Eating Out In The Washhouse

IMG_2600
In the garden of Edsberg castle, in the suburb of Sollentuna, you'll find this quaint house built in the 1700 century. It was built and used as a wash house (= brygghus) of the castle until the 1930ies. The whitewashed building with 50 cm thick stone walls has then also been a private residence, but since the early 1990ies it's a café, called Brygghuset.

This small café has 40 seats indoors and 50 outdoors on the terrace. It sometimes hosts musical evenings and art exhibitions. Also available for private functions.

If you don't live in the vicinity or have a car it is a bit, if not exactly difficult to access, at least it takes rather a long time to get there by public transports (minus). It is situated in a castle garden (plus) and there is a nice walk (plus) around the nearby lake, but even if it is pretty sweet looking (plus) café the food (minus) isn't much to jump and shout about hence making it far from a place I'd highly recommend anyone to go out of their way to get to.

But if by chance in the neighbourhood, do pop by. Preferably in the summer, when you can sit outdoors with a nice view (plus) over lake, castle and garden - and a decent chance of some friendly ducks (plus), and other birds, to feed.
