For those urgent times in life, be woman or man, just look for the sign of a heart. Yes we Swedes - for some reason I haven't bothered investigate - like to decorate our toilet doors with a heart. Clearly even the most mundane moment in life calls for a heart.

However. Saving clause. My fondness for hearts doesn't mean I'm embracing the whole commercial hullabaloo surrounding a certain upcoming Valentine's Day. I just like their shape and sentiment. All year round.

Hi, Pia K,
I like your hearts as well.
This oldest toilet doors I have seen with a heart on them, were old fashioned "outdoor toilets", no water,no electricity, no nothing except the whole, some newspapers and often a picture of the royal family.
To provide light and fresh air a Greek cross or a heart was carved through the door. Up high so that peepers wouldn't get a look.
When Norwegians talk about the door with a heart on, everybody will immediate now,- it's just the toilet.

I like the red ruby shown in the 2nd pic. :)

Happy Valentine's Day!

The heart shape is always eye-catching, and always seeems a natural in red. The heart shaped necklace you think of is a perfect place for a heart.

I had not considered bathrooms and hearts. In the USA, the old outdoor 'outhouses' had a quarter moon on their doors...not a heart. And I have no idea as to why the moon!

Pia,
I agree that the heart shape is very appealing. No need to save it for just one day. ;-)

Yes Pia K
I remember those out door toilets too with hearts on them and half moons!
Yuk! They were awful things those out houses!

You are right. It should be Valentines Day all year round!

The second heart with all of the little white stars is nice. They could even be little white snow flakes too.......Love Terry

Oh, Felisol, it seems like Norweigans and Swedes have very very similar traditions with the out doors toilet and the hearts, and the royal family being pinned to the wall, so to say, there. I clearly remember that from my old relatives country houses and such. I'm sure it wasn't very nice to visit there in the winters but it's kind of quaint today.
Although, granted, I do love the modern WC...:)

Glad you found a favourite, Dora:)

Well, Ralph, I can think of an answer to the moonshape on the outdoors, somehow the heart seems a bit sweeter then, or perhaps it's just my imagination:)

YEGTG, no no reason at all, celebrations all year around, big or small, that's the way to go!

Your collection is beautiful!

In the US the hole they cut in the outhouse (outdoor toilet) door was a moon :).

I love your sweet hearts. I'd use that first one for a key chain.
