The Colours of Autumn

As I've written before, there's probably no season which offers such a plethora of gorgeous colours as autumn - and when summer still lingers on, then it's even more amazing...

I stumbled over this wonderful - in what must be considered one of Stockholm's lesser pleasant suburbs, ie horrendously depressing... - over-abundantly colourful allotment garden with mainly all sorts of dahlias. Dahlia isn't the easiest flower to grow, not in the best of weather I'd guess, so the fact that these beauties could be found there, this time of year, and in such abundance was truly stupefying. The picture doesn't do the place justice at all - I completely blame it on the lack of good light that day, hrm...

What makes me pensive, or rather really curious, is how they'll house the bulbs during winter? Dahlias don't survive outdoors at our latitude during winter, they need to hibernate indoors. And with so very many of them...

There were many pink and red dahlias around, but my favourite without a doubt was this lurid orange one. Such an incredible beauty! And such an underrated colour *Elvira nods concurrence*...

    I am in the USA and we are doing a Strindberg play that takes place in Sweden in the autumn, and there is a vase of flowers...any advice on what kinds of flowers should go in there?
