World Animal Day

As important and fantastic as the Swedish Cinnamon Bun Day is, it can't really compete with the fact that today, October 4th, also is the World Animal Day. A day we should think a bit, or preferably a lot, extra about the fact that animals - other than humans - enrich our lives in so many wonderful and amazing ways!

Many of us unfortunately take all these animals, great and small, for granted and more often than seldom treat them as something subordinated humans - which is rather laughable if it wasn't so completely tragic. If someone, something, some being had actually made homo sapiens in to the crown of creation - then of course we would be a much more caring, thoughtful, compassionate, long-term thinking breed of living beings than we sadly are...

Yet another day to remember one of my favourite quotes, made by a truly compassionate, inspirational and kind human being, Mahatma Gandi -

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated
