Now is the time of Christmas fairs in Sweden, when arts and crafts, food and drink are sold in cities, villages, islands, castles and squares, large and small, all over the country. Personally I rarely buy things at these fairs, but it is kind of nice to stroll around, soak the atmosphere and perhaps have a saffron treat. These photos with red are from the Advent Sunday fair at lovely Skokloster castle, some miles north of Stockholm city. Alas not in snow shroud this winter, but pretty just the same.
The castle café which serves not only the traditional Swedish saffron buns called "lussekatt" but lots of other niceties...
The castle looks like fun, and the dainties look delicious. Such a pretty view in the bottom photo (are those apples?).

ReplyDeleteThe castles in Europe are always impressive. We don't have such in the US, being that we are only 232 years old as a country. Skokloster is stunning, even without snow...

I spent Christmas in Stockholm some years ago as my closest friend lives there...I love St Lucia and how you celebrate on the 24th instead of the 25th...and the wonderful drink...the name of which escapes me, but I remember heating it on the stove and adding spices to the wine! Delicious!!
