Which might be your favourite castle amongst these?
I could move in tomorrow into Stroemsholm Palace. I quite like Tidoe castle it has sort of a very comfortable look like an oversized farmhouse. They are all very beautiful and part of your country's history. When I was young I loved Desiree it was so romantic! So she was always freezing in the castle. I guess today they all have adequate heating systems.
ReplyDeleteSkånelaholm castle and Salnecke castle are my favourites, I think. they seem not to be too big. But they all look very pretty. I definitley have to organise a holiday in Sweden, I guess. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes, well, I suspect many parts of the castles have to be shut because of the heating cost, Titania, not very environmental friendly with huge houses in this climate... I just adore castles and the architecture for the fairytailish aspect and of course the gardens:)
ReplyDeleteI agree, too big castle/houses aren't very inviting to live in, Tardis, Skånelaholm seems very nice I agree. Must rememeber to pop by when its open in the summer. Yes I've heard that Swedish holidays can be rather nice...:)
Myself I love Stora Sundby castle, seems like it has stepped out right from a fairytale!
What beautiful castles you have in Sweden, they look like they will be filled with roaring fires, blazing candles and girls in frilly dresses.
ReplyDeleteYup, that pretty much sums up what castles are all about, Poppy Q:)
