the bird skirt, part I

the most tangible thing i've accomplished this weekend; one of the skirts i've planned to make all summer (but never got around to due to the one sewing machine that worked went missing) has finally been half made.

for me the use of a sewing machine brings out a lot of aggression, and that's not only when i make mistakes etc, it's just not nearly as soothing, calming, therapeutical as yarn, needles and hooks. to me.

but of course, with a good end result it's a satisfying thing to do, sewing.

so far with this skirt i've made mistakes, silly ones, but i think i'm on the right track now. making a skirt with pockets is just tricky, when you're not well versed in the art of sewing. will continue tomorrow and hopefully there will be a finished and pleasing bird skirt result later this week.

such a gorgeous, perky fabric, wouldn't you agree?

  1. Not being a sewer myself with a mother who can't stop sewing, I can appreciate your hard work. Love the fabric!
