little loaf turns nine

022

On August 4th, 2012, a humid summer day in Stockholm, one Little Loaf extraordinaire named Malte turned nine years old. The celebration was a rather sober affair, for all sorts of reasons. (No cupcakes and cookies in sight alas.)

First there was a late summer shave. Then there was a posing for a second... or two. Before the birthday boy was his usual terriers self and lost patience.

Then he got to search the garden for his chewy treat. Then there was a squeaker toy (of course). Bright, sunny and summery. (Although, as it turned out, a bit too large to be fully enjoyed by the small terrier sized jaws.)

But still, birthday joy according to one little loaf extraordinaire is complete with a) chewy thing b) squeaker toy (to carry around at least).

Happy birthday,

hello weekend

summer driving

Oh how I wish I could go into the weekend with a twinkle in my eye and in happy spirit, sadly I will not. Due to

a) the silliness of tooth ache. Yes really. Again. A week ago I took a bite of a sourdough toast and  a pain shot through the right tooth - the same tooth I lost the filling in and had fixed in March, right on the opposite side of the darn root canal tooth last year - it has been acting up ever since whenever I eat something, there's a dull ache in my jaw. Sigh. I bet there's a crack below the new filling or something. Probably need to call the dentist on Monday. Sigh again.

b) even if I have been getting slowly better all summer, the runny left nostril refuses to give. It's such an unbelievable nuiscance! At home I just let it drip, I can't be bothered blowing my nostril anymore, but in company I always have a tissue at hand - the amount of tissues I've gone through in five months... - but of course, whenever I tip my head, there it goes dripping again and I hold something I can't exactly keep the tissue in hand. It's just nasty and annoying beyond belief, that a silly dripping nostril can do that, who knew? Plus the tiresomeness of waking up to a wet pillow every morning...

I have a doctor's appointment next Friday, a new doctor, to whom kind Dr Feist has sent me. Hopefully she's a nice and good one. And hopefully the new tests will show improvement. Can just the snivel and dripping go away please!

c) the lovely pair of Viola shoes have broke beyond repair. Yesterday I noticed that the cork heel had crumbled and broke in two pieces.

Not sure if it was a fault in the pair I got, or if it's a design flaw - I'm very pleased with my Cork Oak wedges and in hindsight they seem like a sturdier model suitable for cork than a clog model, which of course, as I wrote before, lacks elasticity but are still subject to the tenstions of footsteps... - no matter what I am truly disappointed since it was such a lovely pair of shoes in a gorgeous colour. I would love a  new pair, but I don't dare since I don't trust the construction of the heel.

I've made a complaint to the shop I got them, I looked at other shoes in the same Viola colour, but sadly the models I like don't have any in my size left. So a refund it is.

It's quite obvious I do not lack in the shoe department, in fact I could probably open my own shoe department by now, but some colours are just special, more special than others. And I had been looking for open toe shoes for so long, with moderate heels. I guess this wasn't the summer I found them.

With dealing all this, after an overall lovely month of July, I can't help but thinking how utterly crap August began and continued last year. It was such an awful awful month for me. But after the crap and the awfulness came new beginnings.

So being a proper grown up (ugh), getting through the hurdles, paying the denist's bill with the shoe refund (how sad but necessary that will be) and everything will be alright on the other side of the hurdles. And hopefully August will still be enjoyable, in other ways. And there's always a kitten to cuddle.

Go ahead and have
a lovely August weekend ~

castlespotting with bobbaloos

castlespotting - drottningholm

still having issues with focusing, including blogging. but a little photo here and there, that i can always do. and you can always rely on bobbaloos. these three nearby castles (svartsjö, world heritage site drottningholm and little ljunglöfska) are old news for us, but new and exciting for little bobbaloos who always appreciate a little magic, fairytailish ambiance and pretty architecture.

so when i lack focus (and really, too too much to write about, thus instead very little get written and blogged about at the still summer moment...), bobbaloos are there to help...

mane message hair ties

Untitled

Via Chelsea (Frolic)I learnt about these nifty, colourful, kind to your hair ties and hairbands from the company Mane Message. They're sold in different packages and many of them are tie-dyes in cute colour combinations. In fact there are so many sweet colours it's hard to chose just one package - especially for a colour buff like me... - so I went for a few when I placed my order.

Some of the ties I got were two of the same colour, though that does make it easier to give away a few that way. Because when they arrive you will realise that you want to keep each and every colour for yourself, even if the intention was to give away some. They are super adorable!

The hair ties can also be used as simple and sweet bracelets.

I ordered a package of headbands too, haven't gotten around to using them, not because they're uncomfortable to wear but more because I love the idea and look of a headband on others, I just always seem to come to the conclusion that headbands just aren't very me. Still I'm easily seduced in getting them... Need to work on the me-feeling.

They are all very cute, perky (depending on the colours you choose) and unpretentious. And I can definitely see myself getting a few more. I especially love the tie dyes, the turquoise and pink ones are my favourites. Perfect and simple gifts too. Also sold on Etsy.

a little thursday post

marabouparken

I had written a little post in the Blogger app, did a spell check and when I returned Blogger had ruthlessly deleted the post.Which was a very upbeat, giving thanks, being grateful kind of post. I still feel those feelings, won't write them all down again just now though. This photo will have to summerize those thoughts and feelings for now.

Good feelings, thoughts, these past few days. Weeks. July even.

moving day for åskar

026

Today it was time for blue boy Åskar to move to his new forever home. I can safely say it's so much easier to let them move at the 12 weeks old-date than later - and I can in this case of course only blame myself for not making a big fuss about selling them at the earlier date - because you get so much more attach to and smitten by their ways and personalities during the weeks, months that follow. The separation anxiety grows.

034
on the day brother årvar moved, two weeks ago...

I'm sure he'll have a great new friend - just like brother Årvar has - and a family with four children who'll appreciate his fabulous blue personality and gentle soul. But he'll be missed, by me and his playful, mischievous sisters, Ågot, Ztina and Zigne.

May you have a long and most happy,
wonderful life little sweet Åskar ~
