colours in budapest

another day of serious impossibleness (i'm sure such a word exists and if it didn't it does now) to chose ONE favourite snap. so instead i give you some colours that have been calling my name today.

bobbaloos planning the day.

mango juice and carrots with coriander (both something i could gladly live on forever).

rather fabulous quirky robes and a sunny sundress.

what can only be described as the prettiest ice cream in the world - a rose!

a lovely courtyard bar where there were attempts to get small sized wollies drunk.

a proper swede in budapest.

hello summer budapest in green shoes

i can't chose just one favourite snap of today, it has been a day full of little serendipitous moments and snaps. but what i can give you is a little incident that really made my day, in the silliest way yet in a very pia-way. adore when that happens.

we were to catch a plane really early, not my favourite time of the day. when we arrived at the airport the take off was delayed with three hours... one of those incredibly boring tiny airports with nothing to do but wait and silently scream.

i hadn't slept a wink the previous night due to a close encounter with a soy latte and just too many thoughts and feelings swirling in my head. so my mood was not of the brightest kind (to put it mildly).

when we went through the security check i was asked to remove my shoes for the umpteenth time and i couldn't help but ask 'why always my shoes?!' - and the answer i got made me laugh a lot. 'well, high quality expensive shoes have more parts and material that makes the alarm go off at the security check. i'm guessing your shoes are not of the cheap kind...'.

seriously, all those times i've felt ridiculous, and kind of bullied if you like, having had to walk barefoot through the security check when everyone else have had their shoes on - instead it has been my fabulous taste in exquisite shoes that has been the reason, ta-da. from now on i will certainly feel chosen and exclusive when that barefoot moment at airports happens. from crabby to chirpy in a wink of an eye, isn't it fabulous what the right pair of shoes can do?

i've also laughed about the reactions when i tweeted this information, the women who never get asked to remove their shoes at airport security checks felt really miffed.

dear applegreen ones, you've made my day in more ways than one, i'm so pleased we get to spend some days walking the summer streets of budapest together!

off to budapest

055

A summer week in Budapest, Hungary, well that sounds rather lovely, wouldn't you agree?

I loved it in December, can't wait to see the pretty city dressed in summer shroud.
House- and cat-sitter installed, bags packed, off we go.
From tomorrow the upcoming blog week will hold six photos,
one favourite snap in Budapest a day
(well, who knows, as three is a lucky number...).
I hope your week will be filled with fabulous things too!

green smoothie

having this as an evening treat was not wise, it was impossible to sleep of course. a perky smoothie is certainly best enjoyed morning or afternoon for best effect.

here's the simple recipe for this green one -

2 small bananas
2 green apples
a handful of frozen mango
a handful of spinach
a splosh of coconut water of choice

- to be honest i was not impressed with the copa mango coconut water, too much stevia, it would have benefitted lots with less of that sweetness. it was however perfect to add to a smoothie -

whizz it all together in blender. a bobbaloo approved smoothie best eaten with spoon and lots of nuts and seeds.

the prettiest bathing suit

pretty bathing suit

Those days when you could get into any bikini or bathing suit and look alright are long gone. Those days when one didn't have to bother with good quality underwire bras of great fit and a flattering bottom part, because pretty much everything felt comfortable and looked great.

Now I absolutely loath looking for, not to mention trying it on, bathing pieces. Always expensive, bad fit, too skimpy or too frumpy plus of course a complete disaster stylewise. I've never been a real fan of beaches and swimming anyway, at least not the overcrowded beaches, so it's not like I'm giving up on something I love just because I can't find the perfect bikini - I've never enjoyed bathing suits really, unless you're reasonably flat chested they tend to be quite unflattering and impractical imho - and when I on the very odd occasion spend time at the beach I prefer just walking. Sunbathing, when it happens, happens in the seclusion of own garden, nothing quite beats that actually.

Sometimes it would however be nice to have a great bathing suit/bikini, sometimes you can find yourself in a situation when taking a dip would be really really lovely. Today I spotted this beauty in a shop window, red, chequered and in a great model, if I was ever to look for a bathing suit this would be kind of it. Still prefer the two piece, still hate the whole trying on, quite possibly finding faults in the model for me, paying a hefty price for something you only very occasionally use so I won't bother looking any closer at this one anyway. But as a whole it's quite inspirational, perhaps I will at least go look for a bikini top this year.

How's your relationship with bathing, beaches and bikinis?

thinking vs creativity

Spotted this quote at the frontpage of Flow magazine the other day and I just can't seem to get it out of my mind.

I believe that the thinking bit has most always been an important part of my creative processes, but I find that (over)analyzing is most often the enemy of creativity. As well as seeing only problems, instead of opportunities and fun, new ways to move forward.

The thinking outside the ridiculous contraints of that boring box so many people seem to live and work in is of course essential for creativity, but to see thinking as the opposite and the enemy, well I don't buy that.

Go figure I had to analyze that quote.

What do you think, is thinking as a whole the enemy of creativity?
Or is the process more complex than that?

the great frog escape

Clearly someone who is not amused by the presence of cats.

I never knew frogs could actually climb like this, but apparently three little cats who see Mr/s Frog - not sure its the same from previous years, who lives under the veranda, but the he/she is certainly bigger - as a fascinating new toy can do that.

Cats were sprayed with water, froggy is resting in flowerbed after the ordeal, no idea where s/he was heading but hopefully s/he will get there this evening when the cats are indoors.

And before you make a remark on this, no it wasn't the kissing gone terrible wrong yesterday and I turned someone into a frog instead of a prince. Honestly.

kissing day 2013

kissing day 2013

In case you didn't realise it's Kissing Day today (July 6). To be true I didn't know until a few days ago and it wasn't the reason for getting a new lipstick, honestly.

But a red lipstick I got. Apparently there IS a red hue for everyone, me I haven't found mine yet but I love the impact a perfect red lipstick make so I keep looking for my perfect match now and then. The perfect red lipstick for me would be a deep, dark red with a hint of blue hue, which obviously is darn difficult to find. In the end most of the red ones are orangey red or get that on (my) lips. In vain so far, thus I usually stick to lipgloss or chapstick. (And well, practical low maintenance has its advantages...).

kissing day 2013

When I popped by Lush for the soap recently I found this one though, its deep red with hints of blue and when I saw the name of the colour it practically screamed my name - yeah i'm a sucker for the perfect name, quote or the right music when i'm in the changing rooms... -; Beslutsam, redo att köra (Determined, ready to go). Ie just where I am in life right now, love it!

I will most probably not wear it a lot (for practical reasons, I'm not big on retouching make up during the day) but I think it'll be a perfect companion on special occasions, the consistency on lips is really lovely but it does need to be combined with a lip liner since it's rather loose and liquid.

What's your relationship with lipstick?
Favourite colour, favourite brand?

kissing day 2013

As for Kissing Day, as far as I'm concerned kissing, loving and showing affection is of course not something that "counts" only when comprising human to human action, what the world (desperately) needs is more love and showing of affection for all beings, kissing is just a part of that. So, show a bit of extra love today, to someone near and dear -

Happy Kissing Day!
