little halloween cupcakes

To be honest (and repeating myself) I'n not really a fan of cupcakes. Too sweet in general and I hate frosting - much prefer a tasty fruit or chocolate muffin.

But I tasted these adorable miniature cupcakes at an event last week, with Halloween topping, and I thought they were smashing.

Needless to say (for the above reasons) I don't frequent Cupcake Stockholm (cupcakesthlm.se) that often, but I decided now was the time.

Perfect bobbaloo treats! My favourite by far from these is the chocolate almond paste with chocolate ganache (one plain and one with a skull in the pic).

And the fact that they are miniatures is fab. I'm not much for oversized pastry - unless it's very easy to cut in pieces for several to share. Even the regular sized ones at this bakery are quite small. And they aren't overly sweet (only in looks).

This one is the (only) vegan cupcake they have. Of course I had to try it. Chocolate - espresso with cookie crumbs. Alas I found it a bit dry and the frosting far to buttery.

But perhaps that was because I didn't squint enough or used my olfactory senses properly when I ate it? I should obviously follow the lead of the cats more often for a more satisfying life and eating experiences.

Even when it comes to tiny cupcakes.

Happy halloween ~

pumpkin season

I'm so glad pumpkins aren't are sight in Sweden anymore. But it's pretty much only since about ten years back they're easy to come by here. Yes really.

I don't find them an easy ingredient to cook with, so I sadly rarely do. But love eating pumpkin dishes whenever I get the chance.

Today I had an awesome one for lunch. Pumpkin puree (heavenly), barley, roasted pumpkin and pickled red onions.

The Scandinavian darkness and glum this time of the year might be a complete drag, but the fantastic seasonal ingredients are certainly not!

Even a bobbaloo deity of kindness does agree.

the ghost and mrs pumpkin head

026

This is a pair that probably will live a long and hopefully happy post-Halloween life until they are well dried up. I can't bear eating cute marzipan fellas (not really enjoying marzipan just a minor detail here) and in case M doesn't make a sneak attack when I'm not around they are safe here.

Want to watch a lovely little movie with a ghost and another kind of Mrs I wholeheartedly recommend "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir" for some delightful movie-hours.

halloween cheese

042

Not my kind of cheese, but I like the idea. A bit of scary cheese for Halloween. This is a Swedish kind of cheese called Grevé (Count) and this is the Halloween version, Grevé Dracula. Extra ripe, extra sharp. For fang people.

Cheese or not, Happy Halloween!

happy halloweening ~

IMG_7107

So much to write and share and show, but unfortunately I've managed to get another cold/flu/whatever thingy and this weekend (at least) will be spent in resting position for me. I had plans for a lot of pumpkin carving, cooking and baking, but alas that will have to wait and the only Halloweening for undersigned will be this rather wonderfully creepy, sad and beautiful Spanish ghost story called El Orfanato (the orphanage) on DVD.

Stay well, safe and have a lovely halloweening weekend ~

Pumpkin Here, Pumpkin There

~ The main course of pumpkin and quinoa with quorn filets is being served at Pomp & Serendipity ~

Here in The World According to Me it's pretty much all about dessert. Since the rest of the pumpkin head turned into this moist cake, a cake that can't really compete in colour looks with the main course but there is more than meets the eye to these truly scrumptious pieces of cake...

WCB # 177 - Turn Back The Clock

IMG_9172

I like my place in the sun, I like my grass, I like my fluffy pillow, but when it's the time of the year to turn back the clock I like my laundry basket best of all. It's comfy, secluded and of the perfect shape. I don't care one bit that some grumpy, old - yes, she is, add one year now - human complains about hairy laundry and the basket falling into pieces - huff and puff, she could have gotten a basket in a perfect shape from the beginning a k a Agnes-shaped. Hobbledehoy, away now, my nap time is far from over.

This weekend's Halloween edition of catblogging is kindly hosted by Amar and Luna at catsynth, head over there for the party, that is if you prefer action over sleeping ~

For cat lovers - especially LBC ones - which of course includes anyone human the least bit sane..., there's also a very interesting, and sad, read there, about black cats. Do read. And do appreciate cats, no matter what colour, as well as other animals, as the most amazing, loveable, adorable, quirky beings they are.
