i do believe this might be concidered a shoe-kind of blog-week - and so far apparently so immensely uninteresting it hasn't earned any comments at all. oh the irony -
today i put on a red pair of happy shoes - the helsinki ones - went to the doctor. who had no obvious answers to share from the latest tests. she sent me to have new tests and then i got a new appointment for friday.
off i went to take more tests. for the umpteenth time. the nastiest test-taking so far. it took five tries, close encounters with needles, to get one measly blood-sample. poor me.
at least it was a sunny, happy shoes kind of day.

a different kind of oxfords
This summer did hold new shoes, but this post will not be about the shoes I got, but one of the ones I only admired but didn't get. A different kind, quirky and very stylish, imo, kind of oxfords - which alongside maryjanes must be considered the greatest shoe model in the world - slippers. Add to that brogue and I have a serious kind of want.
Handmade in the same Docksta sole (Swedish granny-style slippers) as the "in grandpa's garden" pair I got last year, which makes them überquirky, weird, cute and ugly at the same time. I saw these pairs at an art museum shop a couple of months ago, but they're sold online too. Made in cooperation with Swedish designer Mats Theselius.
They weren't available in my size, but I had to try a pair on any way. Really lovely, but probably to flat a shoe for my liking. At home I'm happy with my Birkenstocks, and I really don't need to wear überstylish slippers in my home office - but if I worked in an out-of-home office I would love to get a pair in brown!
There will of course be a post about my new shoes to come, just the kind of easy post that lets the mind rest from all the awfulness of this world we're overwhelmed by each and every day. I know I need to write them, I hope you like to read them. Shoes to keep the horrificness at bay. At least for a while. Now if the shoes were great shoes made of recycled leather or vegan, then it would be even better posts, of course. That too will happen one day, that such shoes (which fill all requirements of eco, comfort, CSR, kindness, style and colour) appear, let's hope it will before all of the polar ice has melted...
Have your summer held any new shoes?

suricate shoes and lemurs
Possibly the best spent 25 sek ever (~4 usd) - a silly little wind-up thing that makes it impossible to feel blue and blah. Plus suricates are such adorable, quirky creatures.
Much like lemurs. Which I so plan to finally go visit up close and personal before the end of September. Of course I don't like the exploitation of animals in zoos, but in parts I think some zoos have good conservation plans for endangered species, like this aquarium at the Stockholm outdoors museum Skansen.
Until that happens I will continue to enjoy the above shoes, the little red suricate (Zigne) and the littlest, fastest lemur cat (Ågot) in the whole wide world.
My two questions of today;
What's your best spent 25 sek/4 usd ever?
Have you ever spent time with a suricate or a lemur?

the bird skirt, part I
the most tangible thing i've accomplished this weekend; one of the skirts i've planned to make all summer (but never got around to due to the one sewing machine that worked went missing) has finally been half made.
for me the use of a sewing machine brings out a lot of aggression, and that's not only when i make mistakes etc, it's just not nearly as soothing, calming, therapeutical as yarn, needles and hooks. to me.
but of course, with a good end result it's a satisfying thing to do, sewing.
so far with this skirt i've made mistakes, silly ones, but i think i'm on the right track now. making a skirt with pockets is just tricky, when you're not well versed in the art of sewing. will continue tomorrow and hopefully there will be a finished and pleasing bird skirt result later this week.
such a gorgeous, perky fabric, wouldn't you agree?

welcome september in purple
purple will never be a colour i enjoy thoroughly - the last endeveour and all that - but obviously the odd pair of shoes, boots and nailpolish is rather pleasing to the eye, my eye.
from a friend i got a new nailpolish last week - very serendipitous as i'd just seen the colour on instagram (unbeknownst to her), raved about it but sadly the colour was probably discontinued - and it was accompanied by some of my other purple bottles. pretty in purple.
from left to right;
isadora lilac bikini, essie lilacism, opi planks a lot, isadora sweet violet, manhattan lotus effect 67n
how's your relationship with the colour purple?

goodbye august, you brought red shoes
to be honest you have been a dull and uninspiring month, with few exceptions.
on the last of your days the rain poured down, i learnt that i apparently have a salt level deficiency - no i haven't run a marathon, sweat a lot or had a bad tummy day, rather the opposite after i gave up dairy - which needs to be looked into (all tests and now my weird condition still a mystery...).
in the last of you days, august, i also welcomed a pair of shoes. red. again. (the sad fact of the faulty purple pair, the refund turned into a red on sale find). i'm happy to say they really are even lovelier irl than in picture. spring/summer/autumn perfectness.
i hope the first weekend of september will bring only sweetness ~ have a lovely one!

the loaf and the kitten
it's a tough life in this household for the loaf. the cats, especially one kitten, the littlest one, really do not understand the meaning of private space or 'no sharing of sleeping arrangements with loaf'.

arts, crafts and leafs with bobbaloos
stockholm offered fabulous summer weather.
met a friend i hadn't seen for ages.
went to see an arts and crafts exhibition at museum liljevalchs - it was lovely, inspirational and aweinspiring. if only humanity could spend more time creating fine and fun things like this instead of doing their best of destroying this one planet. rhen life wouldn't be so bad.
took lots of pictures, most still need editing. thus will show more later (have you heard that one before...)
but the 2000 giant leafs - so disappointed i missed the opportunity to participate myself - impressed both me and bobbaloos.
after the exhibition end on sunday sept 2nd they will all be sold for a good cause; planting trees in africa-project. bit disappointed the one leaf i wanted to make a bid for was already sold. ah well...
overall a lovely day.

it's a forest out there
even if you're a small being in a big world you might be a colourful, bouncy, inspirational and quirky small such being. but somedays the big world is a bit daunting. it's a seemingly impenetrable.
other days the sunrays lead the way, even for small beings in a big world.

malte the dog, i tweet therefor i am
Or rather, as that username was already taken, @thedogmalte - this little scruffy and smart (yes it is apparently possible to be both at the same time, at least when your name is Malte, the loaf dog extraordinaire), is now on Twitter. With his very own account.
Not sure if he's convinced about the awesomeness that is Twitter - I know it took me a while... - since tweeps rarely seem to write about the really impawtant things in life like squeaker toys, green chewing bones, carrots, more food, smallsized people, walking and cat herding.
Feel free to head over there and give him all paws up and encouragement to continue his tweeting. Malte, the loaf dog extraordinaire, a well-rounded guy in the prime of his life, a grumpy ol' doggie, pick your epithet and tag along.
