Some miles north of Stockholm, towards the smalltown of Norrtälje and the village of Grisslehamn - both well worth a visit during the summer. In Grisslehamn the big boat to Åland, Finland, also arrive and depart- you'll find the "island" of Väddö.
And on Väddö you'll find the Thousand little pigs café, situated very scenic with a huge lawn overlooking the water. Apart from having Sweden's largest collection of pigs, in all shapes and sizes, they also serve a very special kind of cinnamon buns - Pig buns (Grisbullar).
The recipe you can buy at the café, so you can make your own pig buns. Personally I think they're a bit too rich in the butter-filling-department, so I change that part of the recipe. Lots of cinnamon (cardamom is also tasty!) makes them delicious and the size makes them very filling.
And when I don't "pig out" on these buns - and why are so many negative personal qualities consider to be animal behaviour? Such as; stubborn like a donkey, fat like a pig, pig out, cunning like a fox, thievish like a magpie... - I just found out I'm a tad gross...
