Pink Loafer Man & Perky Duck

IMG_1478

When the sun suddenly strikes in May some male inhabitants of Stockholm like to have an after-lunch-nap on a bench by the water.

Or perhaps its a case of the overabundance of options when deciding on the right path becoming to much to deal with, the place to contemplate those options is on a bench by the water.

Please note that stylish men who like to bask in the sun do so wearing light pink loafers. Also barely noticable is a matching pink handbag. Pink loafer man hence sports the colour for all seasons. Above left, below right.

Other male inhabitants like to contemplate life in the sun and path-chosing by watching the faint ripple. Above right.

Other option might be snappy, brisk walk by water. Time to move on. Below left.

What is it with Sweden and pink? When I was there on an international camp many years ago now, just about all the teenagers (including/especially the boys - which would never happen here!), seemed to have a thing about pink, particularly a strong, vibrant pink. Personally, I love it, but I've never seen so many people wearing it as in Sweden. Any ideas why?

That's hilarious, and I've never thought Swedes had a particular fondness for pink - even if its admittedly my favourite colour - well, perhaps in the Miami Vice / yuppie era of the 80ies.

Maybe its genetic, maybe its the weather or maybe some say that it takes a certain man confident enough to be able to wear pink without feeling silly, can it be that there are many of them in Sweden? I have no idea, and I'm so trying to see what you saw, lots of pink wearers on the streets here, so far not a lot of luck. But it sure made me think, thanks for this comment! :)

Maybe it was an 80s trend... Or a scout thing, since that's what the camp was all about.

I still love it, though, esp. the combination of strong pink with khaki. Looks great. Serious and frivolous at the same time.

I bet it was a scout thing, I mean I've heard all about the book "Scouting for boys" on Parkinson's TV-show and I can take a hint...;)

You've definitely got me thinking about Swedish men/boys and pink now, even M - who really isn't a fan of pink - had a pink shirt on the other day, great with jeans.

And I completely agree on the serious/frivolous thing with pink, all (except for neon) bright colours are great, but pink really adds that extra touch!
