magical neckties

february 24, 2011 - two neckties

Like so many like minded (mostly bloggers rather than IRL people, I have to say) I rarely see the point, these days, in buying gifts when one can make, create something personal instead. Yes, exceptions exist for me too, but if it's not a book it's most always something handmade by someone else. Why chose boring, un-unique mass-production when you can chose personal and handmade? No point, no point at all. And as personal and handmade come in every price range, no need for fancy, well-made and sweet will more than do, there's something for everyone.

After all the magic socks knitting, I felt the need to make something else in that most magic of magic yarns, my own pink necktie has thus been followed by other magical neckties. The applegreen one has since moved to a new home, with a loving wearer.

The mixed pastel one is up for sale in my Etsy shop (for all things magic). This one has also been paw approved (for newcomer readers; we're big on such important matters in this residence) by the loaf dog extraordinaire aka tie-snatcher.

Then we have the latest one, the consultant necktie for brother-in-law's birthday last Friday. At the birthday-do opening of gifts it was the only present which got spontaneous applause, I take that as a good sign. I'm pretty sure the tie will sprinkle magic and bring good fortune to new life as self-employed.

Right now I'm tying the loose ends on the necktie with purple streaks (right in top photo). It's for M, I think he needs a most magic tie in his life too. Really, everyone does.

These are so lovely. One girlfriend knitted a baby cap for a new mom's baby shower and it was the most appreciated out of thousands of dollars of worth of other gifts. (how's that for a run on sentence?)

Grannies are best knitters they make anything like a production line. I think I got 36 pairs of woolly socks and about 200 knitted Jumpers - now I know what ebay is for..

Very cute ties! I would love to start making home made gifts for christmas but I always seem to run out of time. I have great ideas and everything, I just guess I need to start out small :)

What kind of dog is that by the way? Very very cute :)

Your work is beautiful. And your dog is unfathomably precious! I have a Pomeranian that is just as fluffy. I would also like to say that I like your writing style. You seem very bubbly and outgoing. I'm happy to have stumbled across this blog.

The colorful ties are beautiful! A hand knit gift requires lots of time, planning and love from the giver and is truly something special for the recipient.

I've discovered your blog today and it's totally amazing. I love your handmade ties, they're just awesome.!
Actually, I also like craft. I do some felting and decoupage but I can't knit (that's a pity :< ).
And when I've seen you're from Stockholm, I've totally gone mad, cause jag älskar Sverige och svensk språk :) . I've been learning for 7 years now but my Swedish isn't as good as I want it to be.
I'm from Poland, from Gdańsk, so we're kind of neighbours by the Baltic Sea ;))
My blog is quite new, so I've been writing in Polish only now but I'm gonna write something in English or maybe Swedish, too ;)

Hälsningar.! ;)

I've forgotten to leave my blog adress (yes, it's kind of typical for me), so if you'd like to see it one day, it's:

Those are adorable. (:

I love to knit as well. In fact I was reading your bio and we're actually a lot alike. Writers, readers, phtographers, analyzers, animal lovers.
Haha, except I happen to be averse to cats.

Keep up the good work!
