By the way, anyone but me who thinks it's almost to easy buy things nowadays, and I'm not even too keen on ordering online or through catalogues, I want to touch the fabric and feel the texture, try on and scrutinize the work, but when it comes to things like that book or that CD I just have to have it right now, when I actually manage to find it... And some other trinkets now and then, no to mention pearls and stones, oh my... I shouldn't have brought that up, it was ages ago since I last browse through those websites...
Anyway, back to those best and worst of times. That it is now, this particular time of year, that weather and temperaturewise is so lovely in Sweden - but also rather hellish when it comes to my poor feet. I know, I've been proned to get blisters easily for ever, but last year was worse than that for ever.
Every shoe, new as well as old, brought me new scorching blisters on almost every part of my feet. Even some parts I didn't know I was blessed with... I've tried the patches that in Sweden go by the name of Compeed, they worked well in the beginning, then they sucked too - or perhaps didn't suck, since they didn't attach to the feet properly which resulted in worse sores than the blisters themselves...
I've tried to wrap adhesive tape around the Compeed patches - didn't work either. Tried regular patches, surprise, didn't work. Changing shoes everyday, new blisters kept appearing. Tiny socks in summer shoes - new blisters in new and exciting places.
The weather in South Africa being all warm and sticky, but I actually didn't get a single blister while there. I wonder why? Since the warm and sticky weather in Europe is complete hell for me blisterwise.
Mr M is totally convinced it's all due to the fact that I do take care of my feet, too much care of the feet just isn't good for them. This comes from someone who can't spell to the word footfile, whose secret middle name most probably is cheese rind and whose feet easily could be mistaken for an elephants... Baby elephant, but nevertheless an elephant.
And since the blisters usually doesn't appear in the areas that you use a footfile on, well, I don't give a lot for that idea of cause and effect.
The first blisters have already appeared this season, that sure didn't take long, poor feet, all sore and unhappy. I'm not sure which shoes I can lure them into now. And what bait to use... Tomorrow I have an appointment for a pedicure, I hope the tootsy-wootsies will be happy about that surprise and the pampering they'll get! I know I will.
And I'm totally welcoming any suggestions on how to avoid getting blisters, any new ones I haven't tried yet...

I just have one word for you, but one that I *know* you won't like. Crocs.
Well, I'm not that negative anymore - I was just about to invest in a pair when in ZA, half the price, but they didn't have my size/colour. But yes, I can think of prettier shoes...;)
My feet, and their human on top, really enjoyed the pedicure anyway:)
They make really pretty ballet-flat looking crocs now, I don't like the duck-bill looking ones, but I am a fan of the ballet-flats.
Hope your tootsies get feeling better!

Oh my, now I see, they don't sell those ballerina-style crocs in Sweden, yet, but they were really cute! Since they're a total bargain online compared to the in store-prices here I might perhaps try and order them online... Thanx for that tip, heidikins!
I'm not sure specifically where on your feet you are getting blisters, but I get them too - usually on my baby toe, the top of my big toe, or even cuts across the back of my ankle.
I've found that moleskin works (http://www.drugstore.com/search/search.asp?searchtype=1&trx=28198&trxp1=33474&ipp=20&srchtree=5&search=moleskin)
and you can cut it to any size (stick on the parts of the shoe that rub, not on your foot). This might be something you've already tried.
Also, I make sure my shoes are wide enough and only shoe shop after I've been walking around for a while. I'm not sure if width is a problem for you.
This doesn't always work - if I love the shoes, I just grin and bear it, and hope that the band-aids hold.
That was really good tips, Heather! I haven't tried moleskin and never thought of buying shoes after walking a bit and not before. Thanks:)
I have the same problem! My feet are currently completely cut up. This sounds odd, but try putting deodorant all over the tops of your feet and toes where the shoes rub. It acts like a lubricant and helps prevent friction. I'm wishing I had not gone without this trick this weekend, when it was so hot and humid...my feet are in such pain now!
Oh I'm all for trying out odd tips too, Alison - I have been lucky enough to somehow stayed away from the most painful blisters this summer. Until the other week that is... I'll definitely try this deodorant trick, thanks!
