happy fat tuesday on women's day

IMG_0543

Still very happy about yesterday's wonderful news (of course) - and thrilled over all the kind and touching comments, gosh...

Today though, there's a happy coincidence - or unfortunate if one happens to be a person who feels awkward with the words "fat" and "woman" in the same sentence, myself I couldn't care less, a reasonable amount of fat is essential - with Fat Tuesday and International Women's Day coinciding on this March 8, 2011.

First of all, I find it indeed heartbreaking that in the 21st century gender (and fellow beings) equality hasn't in general come further than this. That there's even a need for a special day to observe women's struggles and achievements, that's tragic. Since every day, every week, every month, every year should of course be equal, for all. No matter gender, no matter species.

Second of all, on a lighter note, I'm very pleased that I will in a little while be feasting on my favourite semla (the Swedish lenten bun ), the Stockholm Super Semla - and no I don't mean the semla amigurumi style, even if I'm rather pleased with those, I mean the cardamom bun, almond paste, whipped cream delight to devour - and yes, there may be whipped cream enough to share with cream loving kitties.

let the eating of the stockholm super semla begin

If I could I would share, yes I would, as things are that's not really doable. But I wish and hope that your day is a good one and that if there's no semla to be seen or found in your vicinity, that you're able to treat yourself to some other special thing today.

Hello, my name is Myz Rozz and I just wanted to stop by and tell you that I agree and am presently writing a book in regards to "Basic Instinct," which highlights the Evolution of Women. You are right to feel this way concerning our recognition on one day. Thanks for posting this, I enjoyed reading your blog.

We, indeed, need to be recognized beyond the kitchen and kids. I cannot wait to look through your blogs to find more gems like this.

Looks delicious!

No bun-thingies here, but I did receive other small things, like a porcelain angel figure and the joy of being able to give my sister a pretty flower for a reason more than "I just felt like it."

It's been a day full of pleasant surprises :)

So excited to be having pancakes for dinner tonight! And I thought it was a pretty strange coincidence too that Women's Day and Fat Tuesday were on the same day...will maybe teach all us ladies that it's okay to pig out everyone once and a while?! Maybe?

There is a very important lesson in life I had learnt.. NEVER tell a woman she's fat!

She will remember it with a vengeance!

Oh you must share that please. That bun looks absolutely wonderful. My heart melts, and I am not even looking at the kitten.

How peculiar that these two days should fall on the same date.

Also, that cat's expression, staring down the bun...lol!

On Fat Tuesday in Catalonia it´s traditional to eat "coca de llardons" a flat cake made of lard - yuck:( - and an egg and pork sausage - yuck again and omelettes. All fattening stuff not suitable for vegetarians!
Love the pic of the kitty!

Happy to find you in Blogs of Note, and I have to say that those buns look delicious! Good to know that Fat Tuesday is appropriately celebrated in Sweden... Thst goes a long way toward explaining why my friend in Sweden was drunk messaging me this afternoon. I am also I to all things crafty, and currently have a Found Art project that Im blogging about, in which I cover stones in crochet, and then leave them on the beach for someone to find. Strange and beautiful all at the same time. I'll be reading!

PS... The word verification for this comment was "fattet". Interesting...

Thank you for the enlightenment of this day. I did not know that today is womens day, a good thing to know, not that I think that it should only be celebrated one day a year. Nor should one gender be singled out for the one day...how long before we start doing man day...son day...daughter day...everyday should be a celebration of life day. Yes no matter the gender or the species for that matter. On a lighter note as you put it...that looks delicious. I think I will go out and get one too. Have a wonderful week.

Hey,

I just have to agree with your post and how it is kinda sad that women have to have a special day to kind of get recognized for all we do.

Oh and that treat looks yummy!

International Women's Day is a grand idea. It is impressive, that it is its 100th Anniversary.
I agree, that we should celebrate women everyday. We should also celebrate our friends and relationships, every day, not just on Valentines Day. Our world is a tough place, so we should take advantage of any support system that we have.

Oh my goodness! This statement from you:

That there's even a need for a special day to observe women's struggles and achievements, that's tragic. Since every day, every week, every month, every year should of course be equal, for all. No matter gender, no matter species.

Thank you! I couldn't agree more.
