At the Haymarket

Sweet and fine - the fruit that is, or so the sign claims.

Not being a huge fan of Stockholm's own Haymarket (Hötorget) square - I find the in general yelling, obtrusive market stall holders *rather* annoying and as they quite obviously sell very less than all the fruit, vegetables and flowers on display, what happens to the rest...? - but I

do like looking at the colourful displays. It looks mouthwatering, but there's not much information about the fruits and vegetables origin. So for that I prefer shopping in my own pace at my local supermarket, delis or farmer's markets.

Tulips plethora.

Where do you prefer to shop for vegetables, fruits and flowers?

The goods certainly do look mouthwatering. I, unfortunately do not have access to a lovely market like this, but do most of my shopping in supermarkets. All of the fruit and veg shops I can think of have closed down now, probably because of those same supermarkets. It's a shame, because you could always get the best loacl produce at those shops. The strawberries and raspberries were to die for :)

I have a fruit shop, where I buy if I have it not available in my garden. Generally I cook and use my seasonal bounty! Unless I cook for a dinnerparty or a luncheon with friends. At the moment I buy potatoes, onions carrots, red cabbage, green cabbage, melons. Tomatoes, Cucumber, Lettuce I use only from my garden when it is available. Because I have my own garden I am very picky and never completely satisfied. Vegetables are alright to buy, if I close my eyes and do not think about with waht they are treated to look so beautiful. Fruits are terrible. Everything is picked to early put into gas to retard or accelerate the ripening. I never know the quality of the fruit it can be good, or unedible, a lottery.

We have some small weekend markets, but usually I get all my fruit and veg from the supermarket. Like you, I like to know where it comes from.

I usually treat myself to a small bunch of flowers from a local gift shop/florist. They sell small bunches for $2 (US).

All those tulips look wonderful though.
