I've mentioned this simple, very tasty bread/cake before. As I've gotten a few requests for recipe I thought I might as well provide one right here in blog for this simple to whip together yet rather scrumptious Cardamom Bread -
5 dl wheat flour
2,5 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cardamom
2 dl sugar
50 g butter - liquid butter/oil is fine
2,5 dl milk
for garnish -
2-3 tbsp pearl sugar
2-3 tbsp chopped almonds or hazelnuts
Mix flour, sugar, cardamom and baking powder in a mixing bowl with butter.
Mix together and add milk for a loose batter.
Pour into a greased and sprinkled with crumbs roasting pan about 20 x 30 centimeter.
Sprinkle the pearl sugar and chopped nuts on top.
Bake in lower part of the oven on 200C for about 30 minutes.
Let it cool and slice in about 15 pieces. Enjoy!

CARDAMOM! I'm always on the lookout for new recipes that use cardamom and anything decorated with pearl sugar always looks great.
BTW- the lard in that pie crust recipe can easily be substituted for butter! I should have mentioned that in the post.
Oh yes, cardamom is great, Siri!
And I had every intention of trying your/Betty's pie recipe with butter anyway, but thanks for clarifying:)
it looks so good!
i asked you for a recipe once pia k and for the life of me, i can't think what it was!!
i am getting forgetful in my old age....love terry
I have a soiree tomorrow night and I'm going to make this to take with me. Although, maybe I'll make a practice one today for the house just to taste test! I love cardamom.
Hm, yes, haven't forgot about the recipe (saffron buns), Terry, just been procrastinating in my semi-usual way, sorry, will get to it!
Oh it's always prudent to make a test run of things before serving them, Heather. Hope you'll like it and that the soiree is a hit!
